Events

Team engagement is at the heart of our culture. From themed treat days and festive events to impactful activities such as the "Your Voice Belongs" sessions, we ensure opportunities for connection and open dialogue. In 2025, we plan to expand biannual "Your Voice Belongs" sessions, encouraging team feedback and fostering collaboration across all levels.

Awards, Including Outside Awards

Our achievements are recognised both internally and externally. Internally, the "Awesome Awards" celebrate individual excellence with categories like Manager of the Year and Undercover Superhero. Externally, our inclusion in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work through our new partnership with WorkL underscores our commitment to being an exemplary employer. Proudly in 2024 we promoted 15 team members internally, with 3 transfers offering new opportunities within the business.

Wellness

Well-being is woven into our operations. In partnership with The Burnt Chef Project, we provide specialised support to our 17 Mental Health First Aiders and 53 First Aiders onsite ensuring robust support for both team and guest wellbeing. This will include training on financial well-being and mental health awareness. Our focus on well-being extends to themed awareness days shared through the Culture Hub, ensuring that resources and information are readily accessible.

Wyboston Walkways

We are delighted with the results of Wyboston Walkways in 2024 with 116 team members trained across 56 sessions, covering all five pathways to professional development. We also supported 3 employees in pursuing external qualifications and facilitated 4 apprenticeships, ranging from Level 3 to Level 7 Leadership Management

Building on the success of the Wyboston Walkways in 2024, we are expanding this initiative in 2025 with new topics, trainers, and business-focused sessions. This framework continues to guide team members through career development opportunities and skill enhancement tailored to their aspirations.

Feedback on Shout-Outs : Perkbox

Our team values the Perkbox platform as a tool for expressing appreciation. By highlighting "Deals of the Month" and incorporating engagement tools, we aim to maximise its usage and impact. Feedback loops ensure that team members feel valued for their contributions.

Retention

In 2024 we achieved a 70% retention rate, reflecting strong team engagement and a positive workplace culture. Retention is an area of focus for 2025, especially within the critical first six months of employment. A revamped onboarding process, supported by cross-functional working groups, will address this by providing clear expectations and robust training.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) Progress

In 2024, Wyboston Lakes Resort achieved a Strategic position on the ED&I Maturity Curve, aligning with the industry benchmark for the hospitality, travel, and leisure sectors. This reflects significant progress in embedding diversity and inclusion as strategic priorities across the organisation.

Areas for Growth:
While notable progress has been made, opportunities remain to deepen the impact of initiatives by enhancing data-driven decision-making and expanding intersectional strategies. Continued efforts to benchmark progress against peers and address evolving workforce dynamics will further strengthen the organisation's ED&I efforts.

Disability Confident Accreditation

Wyboston Lakes Resort is proud to hold the level 1 "Disability Confident" accreditation, and as part of our ongoing commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), we are actively working towards achieving level 2 and eventually level 3. In our dedication to supporting the local community, we collaborate closely with the job centres in Bedford and Huntingdon particularly in events focused on the recruitment of individuals with learning difficulties.
